What's the difference between a shopping cart and a store builder?
A:
A shopping Cart is simply a program that you use in tandem with your existing web site that allows customers to buy multiple products or services by keeping track of what items they have chosen to purchase, and collecting payment information for you, the merchant. E-commerce shopping carts come in many forms, and are added on to your web site by installing extra code within your existing pages.
A Store Builder is a web site in itself. A store builder not only encompasses the shopping and check-out processes, but also builds the pages of your store dynamically. This allows you the ability to track and forecast inventory levels, make merchandising decisions, and attend to your customers' needs. This is called a turn-key solution; all aspects of the store are handled by the technology, leaving you free to focus on sales rather than processes. Yes you can. CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder can be easily integrated with any look and layout by modifying the cart templates. You can modify templates using WYSIWYG web editors such as MS FrontPage, Macromedia Dreamweaver and others, you can modify HTML code of the templates by hand within your eStore administration, or you can order our custom design integration services. I need a feature that I don't see in CanadaCart. What should I do?

Please ask! We're open to suggestions from our customers because, after all, you're who we built CanadaCart.ca for!Â
Please email us and be as specific as possible about what you want. We can often advise you of methods which are exactly or closely what you need. If we feel that a requested feature could benefit other users also, we may schedule the feature for implementation in future versions.

No. CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder licences are specific to one eStore and Domain. You will need to purchase additional licenses for each site you build with CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder. We offer significant discounts for multiple CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder licenses purchased.
Q:
After purchasing CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder, how soon will I get my eStore installed?
A:
Once you purchase a CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder product our engineers cue your eStore for immediate installation. Normally installations happen the same business day. In some cases where orders are placed after-hours, installations happen the next business day. Either way, your eStore is up and running fast!

Do I need to be an experienced developer in order to use CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder? Do I need HTML knowledge? Do I need other advanced knowledge?

I already have a merchant account. Is it possible to use it with CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder?

Not only is it possible, it's necessary. As a business owner, you have the ability to deposit funds into your business account, but you may not have the ability to accept Credit Cards as a means of payment. If you plan to accept credit cards as payment for goods and services offered from your eStore, you need to arrange with your bank of financial institution an addition to you account that will allow you to do so.

Can I purchase customization services AFTER ordering CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder products?

Yes, you can always purchase additional services at any time by simply contacting us..

Is it possible to remove “Powered by CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder” from my shopping cart pages?
A:
Yes, it is possible, but our service agreement requires that you keep the acknowledgement there. This exposure allows potential new customers of CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder to contact us directly, and supports us in developing our “free lifetime upgrades” to all existing customers. This slow and steady strategy has allowed CanadaCart.ca grow since 1998.

I see that the demo site uses a list of Canadian Provinces. We are located outside Canada. Can we change the list of Provinces to match our regions?

Yes. You can easily change the list of Provinces through the Administration Zone web interface.

Is it possible to make CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder forward users to secure (HTTPS/SSL) URL when they come to the checkout page?
A:
Yes. For security reasons, and your clients' piece of mind, this option is the default method of operation.

Is it possible to change the currency/weight symbol?

Yes, you can define any currency/weight symbols in the merchant's Administration Zone web interface.

Does CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder support multi-language eStores?
A:
The default installation of CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder does not support multi-language eStores. If you need a multi-language eStore, we can create a custom multi-language version of CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder for you, or you can switch-up to the yet-to-be-released CanadaCart.ca ENTERPRISE (Expected release date: Q3 2010). If I decide to purchase a CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder add-on module, how will I install it?
A:
All add-on modules are delivered through our central systems within one business day. They will appear in the modules area of your Administration Zone. Simply activate the module and it will be available for eStore-wide use. A one-time Administration fee may be applied per installation of add-on modules.

Is it possible to add options to my products (i.e. sizes, colours, other etc.)?
A:
Yes. You can set up an unlimited number of product options for your products. Product Option types are either “drop-down” options or “text area” options. Drop-Down options can be a price modifier (flat-fee or percent of original product cost) while Text Area options can be used to allow your customers to add text information with their order. For example, they can add a gift message with their floral bouquet purchase.

Does CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder perform inventory tracking?
A:
Yes.* The "Inventory Tracking" module allows you to track the number of items left in stock, and automatically indicates products are "Temporarily unavailable" in your Customer Interface if the stock count reaches zero. As well, the system will warn you if the number of items in stock decreases to a designated level. Inventory can also be tracked according to product options, such as by colour or size.

Does CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder allow me to sell e-goods?
A:
Yes. e-goods, PIN codes, shareware registration and other electronic content can be sold by using the E-Goods add-on module for CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder. This feature is only available with the StoreBuilder Advanced product.

Does CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder have the ability to sub-categorize products?
A:
Yes. CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder supports an unlimited number of sub-categories, sub-sub-categories, sub-sub-sub-categories and... you get the picture. If it won't be confusing to your clients, you can add as many levels as you like.

I'd really like to use a WSYWIG editor (Microsoft FrontPage / Macromedia Dreamweaver / GoLive), to edit my CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder pages. Can I use these products?
A:
Yes. The template system of CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder products is specially produced to make editing its pages with FrontPage, Dreamweaver, GoLive and other WYSIWYG web editors easy. Simply copy the code from your Template Editor, paste it into your favourite editor, and modify to suit. When done, copy and paste the new code back into the template editor and save the changes. That's it.

If I buy a CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder product, how many updates can I have for free in the future?

All Service Packs and updates for your CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder eStore are FREE for the life of the product. When new services are produced by the team at CanadaCart.ca, you will be entitled to upgrade to those products at a discounted rate.

Are CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder licenses offered on a per-domain or per-client basis?

I have several different domain names that I want pointing to the same site. Do I need to purchase several licenses?
A:
If you have several different Domain Names pointing to the same web space, one license will be enough. An additional one-time administration fee may be applied to configure our DNS server to route this traffic properly. Please enquire about your specific needs.

I want to develop my site at one hidden URL, then move it to another when we go live. Will I be able to change the URL later?
A:
Most certainly. In cases where you need time to develop and deploy from a different address, you simply need to coordinate with our Support Team to make it happen.

Can I incorporate my brick-and-mortar store's inventory database with CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder?
A:
Yes. Your CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder eStore will look exactly as the demo, with one exception: the products database will contain fewer products.

I really like the demo. Is this how my eStore will look before I customize it?

After your CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder eStore is installed, it will look exactly as the demo, excepts the products database will only contain a few product for reference.

My products need to be seen in detail, so thumbnails are not enough to properly represent my product. Does CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder support both thumbnails and larger images?

With CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder, every product can have one thumbnail and one main display image plus an unlimited number of additional detailed product images.

What is a gateway?
A:
A Gateway refers to a service provided by financial institutions that will, for a fee, automatically verify and debit your customer's credit card and automatically credit your bank account. You must have a merchant account with the credit card company prior to using third party Gateway Processing companies.
Q:
I don't want to incur the extra expense of using a Gateway for automatic Credit Card processing. Is it possible to have the order information emailed to me for off-line processing?
A:
Yes. We built our company on the belief that you should not be financially penalized by your success. Most of our clients do not use a Gateway on-line processing service, avoiding the additional monthly, transactional and item fees associated with these services. By default, your eStore sends order information to your administrator via e-mail for printing and off-line processing. For security reasons, you will need to log in to your Administration Zone's secure HTTPS/SSL Order Area to have access to customer credit card information.

My credit card processing gateway is not present in your list of supported gateways. What can I do to make CanadaCart.ca StoreBuilder support my credit card processing gateway?
